What would you like to know? Why you are reacting the way you are to the meds you are on? I do know that medications can effect each person slightly differently, so that is something to keep in mind. I'm not sure how Guy will respond, but specific medical questions should be answered by your doctor because there are so many variables that are involved. -pedagogue

I was just hoping maybe by some stroke of luck someone may see this list and have some idea on what may be going on? My current doctors sure don't seem to have a clue. Thanks

Hi Hyperman and hope you're feeling well now. At least for the moment. You need a HOSPITAL based detox/rehab. They will give you a complete work up, coordinate the various Drs., therapists etc. and give you a comprehensive report on what you need to take, what drugs are interacting with others and what you can eliminate or substitute. Sounds like your life is a living hell and it shouldn't be. You absolutely have to tell them about the street drugs you're taking. Once you get straightened out you can always score some pot or whatever. For now, and I mean today, get yourself in a HOSPITAL where a team of experts can figure this out. You'll have to be completely honest with them but the alternative looks like death if you don't do this. At 45 you have a lot of years left to suffer or feel OK. Your choice entirely. It will take courage and faith. In the docs and yourself. Good luck and you'll be in my prayers. God bless.

Iv'e been clean for like 20 + years now or so. Why would I want to score some pot? No hospital based rehab here plus no insurance. And I refuse to take anymore meds. I'm not getting the pain killers refilled and am going to be off them soon. Problem is that when they did the upper GI (which was about 2 month ago) the specialist told me to stop takin ibuprophen and asprin for my headaces. Thats why my regular doctor wants me to take the darvocet and ultaset instead. But being a addict I cannot control my intake when I have these pills so I'm takin myself off them and I told him that but he just wrote out another refill??? I've only been on them about 3 months now. Not a big deal. Getting off the Zanax was hell. SO that means I'm only takin the prozac. 20mg 3 times a day. I want to stop takin that also but but the regular dr and the phyco doctor have serious concerns about that and highly recommend against it. Thanks

Hey Hyperman - Sorry I haven't gotten to this before now. I'm way behind in responding to posts on this site - that's what being away for weeks will do to a Guy. I wanted make an observation that may seem to be coming way out in left field. But it sounds like you are addressing each of your many health concerns with energy and smarts - conferring with doctors (who are not magicians - they, like the rest of us, make the best 'calls' they can based on their interpretation of the evidence) - and while I know you sometimes feel frustration past the boiling point, you are (it sounds like) dealing with 'reality' in a mostly responsible way. Now - at the risk of sounding party line - are you going to meetings - i.e., doing anything practical for your emotional and psychic recovery? Have you given the 12 steps a try? Addiction is a disease of the attitudes as much as it's anything else. Doing anything you can to put a breath of air between you and your 'urgencies' - well, all I can tell you is: it sure has helped me. Maybe make meetings - and contact with friends and a sponsor met at these meetings - the main dish of your daily menu; in fact, make it pretty much (past breathing, eating and sleeping) your first focus. A lot will improve thereby. One promise of recovery - that we'll intuitively know how to handle what used to baffle us (including your approach to physical problems) will start to come true if you let it. best to you - Guy |
