kLONOPIN - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

I have been taking Klonopin (or the generic form) for about one year for panic disorder. I take .5 daily, sometimes 1mg daily if needed. I see in a previous post you stated that Ativan was the safest anti-anxiety drug? I was wondering why you feel that way? I definitely wanted a longer acting drug which I would be able to taper off of. I desperately need these meds. The SSRI's did not work for my panic and when it is out of control the drinking worsens horribly. Just curious if you feel that the Klonopin is also a "safe" anti-anxiety medication.

I believe "safe" is an arbitrary term, because every drug has associated risks, but to the vast majority of people, it is 'safe'. Your prescribing doc is probably in the best position to figure out the best fit for medication....but it isn't an exact science.

I'm not an M.D. & while I stated Ativan SEEMS to be the safest anti anxiety drug, its not my area of expertise and you do need to ask the prescribing doctor about it.
