I am 31 and have been an addict for over 20 years. I never make it past two weeks of detox. the mental terror and physical suffering is too much. I have been told I am at end stage narcotic addiction, but still I cannot stop. I am unable to go to rehab but am afraid if someone doesn't lock me in a room for 90 days I will die soon. Is NA the only outpatient way to get help? I need help soon.

Dear 2Stop:

Your pain touches me more deeply than I can tell you.

It sounds like you're screaming for help -- and that DETOX before rehab may be in order. Supervision right now is crucial.

Do you want to stop? That is going to be the "engine" to help you start down this road. Look very deeply into yourself for the answer. Then, please, get help now. Again, detox may make sense at the preliminary to getting into a rehab. Go to a doctor today for a checkup and to find ways of checking into a good facility.

You are not alone. I have no doubt that others will post, here, with their own very similar experience.

Don't give up hope.

BUT GET HELP NOW.
