Question Ultram for Hydrocodone W/D?...

Hey Ya'll:

My blood pressure shot way up and I contacted my Dr to let her know I quit the hydrocodone. She Rx'ed me Ultram, (4) 50 miligram tablets a day. The 'script is for 120 with 2 refills.

She didnt say how long Im suppose to do this. Has anyone ever known of a Dr using Ultram and xanax for withdrawal from hydrocodone?

I need to know if this sounds right or not.

I am aware of both of the drugs, their risk of addiction, that you cant drop off xanax. Im good to go with the knowledge of the drugs.

My guestions is more in regards to the method she is chosing to detox me now that I am having blood pressure issues.

Ultram is VERY addictive and withdrawal from it can have it's problems. I know of several people from another site who had just as serious problmes with it as those of us addicted to opiates did with that drug. And Xanax--well that is highly, highly addictive.
I am sure your doctor thinks she is helping you, but many of us have discovered the average doctor just doesn't understand the disease of addiciton. I would try very hard to find an addictions specialist in your area and seek help from them. If you can't find it in your phone book, call your local mental health center and they can possibly refer you.

This is what steams me most about the medical community..... They have no personal knowledge of recovery from addiction. In a sense they are handicapped, and probably deserve my sympathy more than ire. But the fact still remains that addicts die trying to find some serenity and freedom from the getting and using and finding ways and means to get more...

Babe have you checked into any relaxation techniques, breathing exercizes, dietary solutions to the temporary high blood pressure ?

I hope you can find an alternative to drugs that will work for you.

My wife is also on Ultram. I don't no much about it. She says they do nothing for her. She sometimes takes a couple but not that often.

There is a drug given to people that have blood pressure problems during detox called Clonidine...ask your dr. about it.

Also, xanax does help with pain pill withdrawal, but you have a strong possibility to get addicted to that instead, be careful...

Thank all of you very much.

I took one of those xanax (big ass bar looking thing) and I melted into the couch like someone injected pure Duuurrrhh in me.

Not my idea if a good time! lol

I felt kinda drunk but more like tired but in an awwww soo good way. The tide could have risen to my front door and I wouldnt have cared one little bit. THATS probably why its so addictive. Makes me simply not care.

On top of it all, caught my old man ****** around on me. Via text message of course. Idiot must have failed to delete them for the day. Revenge is so sweet, yet Im not feeling much like serving it up slow. His punishment is be sever and swift. Hopefully, one that will keep me out of prison.

Beachbabe I love your picture. I miss the Gulf I moved from pensacola to the middle of Texas about a year ago. I was never fond of the ultram but I know if I could not get anything else that sure would do. A lot of our addiction is mental anyway so it really doesn't matter to us if it was aspirin we would find a way to make it work. So best advice stay away from both. I also caught my wife doing the same stupid damn thing. I left and feel good about it. Good luck.

I am in day 7 and as long as I take my Ultram and xanax as RX'ed I am feeling much better.

Now, just a head cold and some coughing. But I have my energy.

I DID IT! I want to tell so many people how bad it is but how it really does go away as fast as it comes on.

Not being high is like being high, as weird as that sounds. I noticed everything now.

Unfortunately, I have noticed some things I was too stoned to see earlier. But, no drama so I'll shut up.

Im off the Ultram. Made me very tired which was good when detoxing.

I am taking 2 mils of Xanax for two weeks then a mil for a week then .5 mils for a week then dropping off.

My Dr said it would help me stay positive and not take stuff out on family or customers. She said it would help with my tension too. Mostly in the back of my neck. If Im still having that problem once this is all over, she wants me on Flexeril. A muscle relaxer I suppose. God, why must they keep us on something... or at least try.

That's so true, By His Blood!

BB, are you interested in going to some NA meetings? Just wondering if that's why you're also posting here in the NA forum.

Somewhat. I have to figure out if I need it or not.

I have no need for the meds or no urges so I think Im good. If I hear an addict voice though, I'll grab my keys, for sure.
