past one year
I made it over one year of being sober
I was reading Anthony Kiedis book, scar tissue, he is the lead singer wiht the red hot chilli peppers, a chronic heroin relapser
But the more I was reading about him relasping the more I was fantasising about pouring a Jim Beam and cola and the feeling of getting drunk
Its gone now but, I wonder will that always happen, i should get more stuck in and maybe do the steps, but i have a big problem with all the references to God in the steps
I have lost my ability to meet girls, I have no idea how you chat to a girl sober! so I havent had any ANY contact with a female in over 1 year of sobriety, I live in Berlin, dont speak german very well, which doesnt help but still!
I have almost stopped socialising, going to concerts or pubs or parties, anywhere I will be bored, before i would just fill the boredom with drinking. this is the worst time of the year, its cold and miserbale and dark and there is nothing to do, I love outdoor activities.. but this is climate induced outdoor persuits break.
I go to AA international group here to make friends, and remind myself that if it wasnt for that meeting in the first place I might not still be sober. I love the meeting after the meeting bit
there is a party at my work place in a few hours, I was just helping them bring the crates of beer in! that made me get on here and ramble and read
sorry
Roy

Roy, you are awesome!! Over a year, that's incredible. Keep up the great work. You will find a way to speak with women sober. I think you should keep posting here, and if you ever want to chat (even tho I'm a woman lol) just let me know. ((HUGS))

whatever you heard about berlin, forget it, it was cool when the wall was up, contained people gave them a unified voice and reason etc. now it is a huge srawlling grey city with no centre, no atmosphere. maybe in another 10-20 years it will bounce back

Well you know what I mean, not in a sleazy way, but see a woman I like and want to connect with and do something about it..sober! scary for some reason, its a confidence thing underlying my relationship with the booze.
