It was nice to get congrats responses on my six weeks from people here. Thank you. I am so grateful to already have a few very close sober friends as I go through this journey. They have been sober for a long time. Two of them are sober having gone through (and still in) recovery (I get the feeling one is never really cured); the others just never drank (never thought that was possible) for one reason or another. One had an alcoholic father and that was enough of a deterrent. It's so important to have these friends. They have made me realize that an alcohol (and substance) free life not only exists, but iis also fun and even better than the alternative. Each of my nondrinking friends is actually more fun individually than all my drinking friends collectively.
