Gratitude effect?

I'm about to start a gratitude journal for the first time. I've been reading that if you stick with it you begin to notice more and the energy created can bring even more to be grateful for. Sounds wonderful.
I just thought I'd share this idea and see what more experienced folk think, or more to the point why you do this exercise and what positive effect you feel it has.
Grateful (I've stared already!), for any thoughts / guidance.
xx

Starting a gratitude journal is an excellent idea, FarToGo.

Practicing gratitude everyday seem ed to lift my depression and made me appreciate the good things in my life.

I'm a happier, more productive person for it.

Sounds good, made a start last night. There's plenty to go at, health, my daughter, my dog, a job, enough to eat....................... it's a lot.

ftg, it helps to slow me down, stay in the positive zone, and reflect

it's like a mini-meditation for me

and it was told to me 13 years ago, "a grateful drunk, will never drink"

it's worked so far!

all good wishes to you

Being grateful gave me a more positive attitude. It shows me how good I have it and that I have a lot to be thankful for.

Hi FTG,
I began posting in the gratitude threads 2 months into sobriety & have felt a difference in myself now over the past year+.
I now truly appreciate all the people places things etc in my life & i'm able to recognize the fantastic life i've been given which inturn brings on more positive.
Though i no longer post daily, i practice gratitude everyday in real life as its now become a great habit to share with people in my life.
Wishing well to you

Fantastic and inspiring replies, those of you with serious time who have used this practice as part of your tool box / wellbeing........... just brilliant. I feel like I have been "let in on something" and yet it couldn't be simpler.

thank you
