I was just thinking of you Dee before I logged on and wondered why you hadn't been around. I hope you feel better! I took one of those cartoon like banana peel falls a few weeks ago (without the banana) and it was scary. OT still sick. At least made it to 4am without pain and then went back to sleep until 7:30am. Pain just went away after cold medicine and two more ibuprefen. I know all this ibuprefen isnt healthy but I have no choice. Day 2 of 5 day antibiotics. ItsViolet did you have a sinus infection too? OT for college. Its time to apply for financial aid and late college admission now for next fall. Not sure how it works in the UK but you may want to look into things sooner vs later. Also the better times and classes will he full if you wait until late summer to look at it. I have two kids in college so if you have questions I can try to help.

PHRD,
Glad pains lessened a bit.

Dee, glad you're ok-

About to start Raceday ! Not sure what all going on today. I'm not a racecar fanatic, just working an ambulance. I much appreciate a "thrill-free" day here.
Thrills for these guys is burning in a car fire or flipping and crashing over a wall. Whew.
Hope y'all have a good day today !

Sixty days has passed, it seems,
Since OT and I became a team.

Without her count I would not have known,
That 60 days had come and flown.

The pact we made was not to drink,
Together we moved past the brink.

We did not falter or render pale,
We moved forward without fail.

With Super Tomato, one cannot go wrong,
Sixty days fills our hearts with song.

The AV calls, but we resist.
Into the sober future we persist!

Happy 60 OT!!!

In the past, pain was a big trigger for excessive drinking. I would have woke up this morning not knowing what happened, anxious, trying to piece togeyher the events. So even a bad sick day is better than a hungover black day anyday!!!

Don't worry too much about the painkillers at this point, you need them!

If all goes to plan I won't be attending university for another 2 and a half years. Didn't do so well on my post-16 education and by the final year I was turning up drunk. I can only get into uni by working on a counselling certificate - I don't need to apply for funding for that one if I get in before I turn 24, I already pay less than half the fees because of my age.

Still a long way off yet, but time goes by so quickly.

I feel that cloud of depression descending over the past few days, and with it a sense of dread about my health. Baffling it is, the tricks that brain biology can play. I hope I have not done too much damage to my brain from the old lifestyle. I am going to stick to my schedule regardless.

Good morning and Happy Saturday! Just checking in before running around for the day...

Dee, sorry to hear about your fall, glad you are OK.

Congratulations OT for 2 months!

ItsViolet, I hope you get past this illness soon, it sounds miserable!

PHRD, glad to hear you got antibiotics I hope they help quickly!

JL, it sounds interested to be an EMT at a race but I can understand where you would want an uneventful day. I hope that works out for you!

Auggie, love your poem and tribute to you so-sister OT! Great job on 2 months!!!

Hi Mel, the brain is a tricky one...have you seen a doctor or neurologist?

Hey wunderdoodles, just checking in. I'm still on track, and I want to give a special shoutout to my SoBro Badger for his support.
I also have a very nice sponsor on SR who's not in our class. He's been great.
I have to say, the people in recovery are the friendliest, most open, most HONEST people I've met. I guess we had to go through this to strip off the BS and get real with ourselves and others in our lives.
No AV to speak of, but on weekends I'm at the fiance's house, and there' s more temptation here. For instance, last Sunday night I experienced AV and I would have drank if I'd found beer in the fridge. It was a close call, and I didn't think about texting for help, or reading my old posts, or taking any of the logical steps that we're supposed to take when AV is around. This tells me I'm still in a dangerous place and there's still a long ways to go before I can fully put this addiction in the rear view mirror.

Good way of looking at it OOTT, it's still early days and complacency is dangerous.

I'm off to bed now guys, gotta wake up early for breakfast with a friend. I had a good day - got a haircut and dyed my hair because I was still looking a bit like drunk me. Great way of celebrating 2 months of sobriety. Goodnight everyone.
