Recently messed up

Hi everyone

I'm diagnosed bipolar with generalised anxiety disorder. I'm also 5 years clean from drugs and 3 months clean from booze.

That being said, I hadn't self-harmed for a very long time prior to today. Today I messed up. I'm having financial and work problems and it seemed like a good option. Obviously it wasn't because it has solved nothing.

I just wanted to get some support. I know I messed up but the amount of shame I feel about hurting myself is ridiculous considering it's feeling pain and shame that pushed me towards it in the first place.

Any coping mechanisms are more than welcome!

Hurting yourself won't solve any problems. Believe me, I know. I have managed to stop cutting myself, and it got easier when I gave up alcohol as well.

Do you have a plan for the times you want to drink? Use the same plan when you feel the urge to hurt yourself. It really works. And you are not alone.

Heya Yogini, congrats on the sobriety.

I don't have any experience with cutting. I'm a depressive and with that, know way more than I would like to about shame and pain. AAAAARRRRGGHHH!

Does exercise help at all? Acupuncture? Primal screams? This probably isn't helping. I hope someone else will chime in.

Big, big hug to you!
