still kicking!
still kicking!
September 9th, 2009.
it's been the best 6 years of my life. i became better at everything when i quit. i turned 55 last october and retired december 26th.
i've taken trips i wanted to do in the past. nothing extravagant but didn't have the time while working. i'm doing a humongous bathroom renovation this year.
i owe it all to this place. and the wonderful people that run it. at the time i didn't believe i could go to rehab due to family obligations. so this place was my rehab.
i learned more about alcoholism than i had any idea existed.
i just had a checkup last month and my numbers are perfect in pretty much every category. chalk some of that up to decent genes but the rest is just how amazing the human body is at repair.
and i was a pretty heavy drinker. 16-20 ounces of 90 proof vodka every single night at a minimum and more on weekends. because i could start in the morning! yay. lol. when i quit i didn't sleep for 3 days. i laid in bed. but it wasn't sleep.
my brain is clearer than it's been in a very long time. i hadn't visited in a long time and there was a message for me to share gratitude.
i'm grateful. unbelievably grateful. thank all for being there for me.
