Keeping a sense of humour about being an alcoholic is essential to me.

4 1/2 years sober.

I fell of a ladder 2 night ago.

Banged up my arm, my chin and my knee.

My wife and kids came running in.

Writhing in pain I said "You know, if this were the "Good Ol' Days" and I had a bottle of scotch in me I wouldn't have even felt this!"

We all had a good laugh.

For all the pain and anguish I caused my family 5 years ago, life is so good now that we have found our sense of humour about it.

I think that is good. It is for me anyway.

Today I am grateful for life in recovery and being able to 'have fun with it' and keep my sense of humour.
