Wreckage and Havoc
I have alot coming back to me now that Ive got some sober time and am working this as hard as I am. Recently I got my computer back and was bombarded with alot of stuff from my past including pictures of my Ex Fiance and the like and it just brought on a swell of emotion and depression only added to the anxiety im dealing with to begin with. This is sorta my way of giving it up to whatever you want to call a higher power. Im trying to look forward to the future and still all i can think of is the wreckage of my past. Sigh...
Hi Eric,
Glad you found SR and hope you stick around.
Have you thought about working the steps with a sponsor?
You really can work through the wreckage of your past and clean up your side of the street. Until I decided to work the program of AA to the best of my ability, I too was stuck in my past. Now I do my best to live in the present moment and just do the next right thing. The anxiety and panic attacks are gone and my life has changed completely.
You CAN overcome the past and have a new life free of regret.
Good Luck!

Eric, welcome to SR. I hope you find support and answers here.
If you're working on a program of recovery, you already know that you will know a new freedom and a new happiness. That's part of the deal and what a Step program is about, freeing us from the wreckage of our past. It works, but it takes dedication and commitment.
I can honestly say that 10 years of sobriety has given me a new perspective about my past. I still think about it at times, but only as a learning experience. I'm free from the bondage of the mistakes I've made. "We will not regret the past, nor wish to shut the door on it".
