obo- happy you're here too. Hope things continue to go well for you.
chick- glad you had a good time and love your perspective on "rewards".
Up- thx for always being so positive and supportive.
Everyone- thx for listening to my earlier "deep thoughts". Guess it's all a process.

Fools - I'm getting my sugar fix tonight from a new flavor of ice cream that I just found in the freezer. Hubby must have picked it up grocery shopping a few days ago and I had NO IDEA. *****! It's.....maple walnut! Never had that kind!
I'm just holding out for a good night's sleep tonight. I SO need it after my slip last night and a late bedtime/early wake-up!
I occasionally read this thread (first post) when I need a vivid reminder of the nastiness of addiction. It was the middle of the night jolt/panic that was really starting to get me....

WOW, Kat. That thread is amazing. Brings back some awful memories that need to be remembered from time to time. As time passes it becomes easy to forget just how bad life can be when using our drugs of choice.
Applekat, that thread sounds like me too, swap the wine for beer and whisky and it's match!
I used to pass out in the school church and was found by the cleaners more than once.
The shocking hangovers and anxiety/shame are what drove me to begin getting sober....
Reading that thread makes me regret so much of the past 20 years, what a waste of time and energy.
24 days in and looking back at old emails, deleting many from past a love whilst listening to aerosmith's 'no more no more', good to be on the wagon!

Had to look up Ginger Meggs this morning , ....good stuff !
...the oldest running cartoon in Ausralia.
Alpha omega has come a long way since those days huh ?
Izzy , ...the way you're approaching and identifying some things that need to be addressed is progress itself imo !
I have full confidence you can do it , with the absence of alcohol.
Freein , love what you have to say about an "ordinary" day. Indeed , I have so much to be grateful for ,.......esp. the small things , ...........collectively.
Had a chance to hop on the bike today for a short 4 mile ride to the store , to relieve a headache I was getting.(possible coffee withdrawals ) Ran out of coffee yesterday, and had been drinking decafe,.....started feeling a building headache late this morning , so it was nice to get a short , short ride in , anyway. First time I've been on a bike two days in a row , since stopping drinking. Granted , it was only 4 miles , with a stop halfway at the store , but I'm still counting it !!!!
Obo , ....it's wonderful we don't have to worry about all the self inflicted wounds anymore , as we transform into permanent nondrinkers. What a relief , for me. ....was thinking today about that much repeated phrase , how "this life is no dress rehearsal "
and what that implies for me , for all of us, ... sober .
It gives me a comfortable feeling, glimpsing at life without the restrictions of booze, and all it's aftermath.
Well, ST, I guess we're tag teaming this Sunday work thing !! I noticed you were just getting off , as I was headed down to start my 4 day ( night) week.
Haven't noticed any drunks around here yet , but the week is young !?!
Hope all our crew will have a safe , and restful Sunday night, ....getting ready for a new week . I know who'll be sleeping when Up is popping on here at about 5 am !?

Hi April fools I like that name whoever coined it... I usually have no idea what people are talking about, but just wanted to check in. I was just reading it takes 65 days for most things to become a habit, so I guess I'm half way there. I still notice the wine options everywhere I go, but I imagine I will quit noticing eventually. I also notice the stink of alcohol when people around me drink. Not pleasant to think I used to stink like that. Even my little kids soccer game place serves wine. Very European

I'm back. Yea, yea I know it is probably more like

And top I will be asleep when you get off work.
3777 it is day 36 right, I think we have the same sober date.

Just 60 minutes of cardio today, before I ate anything. I've been playing around with that Intermittent Fasting thing where you basically skip breakfast and cram all your calories into lunch and dinner. Pretty fun to pig out and still be at a deficit on calories for the day.
Tomorrow is legs again, though. *shudder* At least I have an excuse now not to squat. Shoulder's busted, can't get the barbell on my back = I gotta free pass, coach! Whaddaya mean "wind sprints"...
