I took Paxil for about 12 years to deal with mood swings and anxiety. It worked really well for me. I stopped drinking 8 months ago and, under the guidance of my doctor, have begun a slow taper off the Paxil. I want to see if I need it now that I am sober.

So I am on 1/4 of my regular dose and this is my 4th week of tapering. I am dealing with head zaps, but more bothersome this past week is my mood. So agitated and annoyed by everyone and everything! I am feeling very short-tempered too. These feelings are part of what got me on Paxil in the first place. And these feelings are triggering me, causing me to want to drink.

I am curious to know if anyone has tapered off Paxil (or another anti-anxiety/anti-depressant) and dealt with similar feelings, but then it eventually evened out? I am willing to stick it out if I have reason to believe things will get better once my system catches up with the taper.
