Keep On Smiling

By Alexandra Skiathitis ©

If at times you feel you want to cry.
And life seems such a trial.
Above the clouds there’s a bright blue sky
So make your tears a smile.

As you travel on life’s way
With its many ups and downs
Remember it’s quite true to say
One smile is worth a dozen frowns.

Among the worlds expensive things
A smile is very cheap
And when you give a smile away,
You get one back to keep.

Happiness comes at times to all
But sadness comes unbidden
And sometimes a few tears must fall
Among the laughter hidden.

So when friends have sadness on their face
And troubles round them piled
The world will seem a better place
And all because you smiled.

The end

Today the nicest gift you can give away is a smile to a stranger and
a wish for a Merry Christmas!

Even if you are missing your two front teeth! lol

*Song For The Day-All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth

Have A Plan?

This Holiday what’s in your glass only matters to you. When everyone around you is having
a good time, drinking cocktails or champagne or beer, do you really think it matters what
you have the bartender pour in your glass?

Chances are it only matters to you. The man or woman next to you is only interested
in getting his or her own drink. So, if you ask for sparkling water or tonic with lime,
it’s your business and no one else’s.

If you’re with family or close friends and someone wants to fill your glass for a toast, it
helps if you prepare the host ahead of time to have your glass filled with a
non-alcoholic drink. Bring it from home.

If red wine is the toast beverage, you can have your glass filled with cranberry juice.

If it’s champagne, make yours ginger ale or Seven Up.

Remember that others will only notice or pay attention to a situation where a big
deal is made of it.

So, if you handle this ahead of time, no one’s the wiser. Everyone else is just caught
up in the celebration of the moment.

With this tip, you can join in and still be true to your recovery goals.

So Stay True 24 Hour Club. It's just another day!

Be sure to let someone at your gathering know it is your goal to stay sober, so you
can BE ACCOUNTABLE.

Have an escape plan. If it gets to uncomfortable then leave.

Check in here if you get weak and post a thread asking for help in Newcomers Forum.
It is our responsibility to do what we need to do to stay sober.

Keep it simple, Today I will not drink or drug no matter what, no ifs, ands or buts!

Daylight today was a little, teeny, tiny bit longer than it was yesterday. Five seconds longer actually. Time to move out of darkness after solstice.

24 more hours please....and 5 seconds longer of daylight being sober.

. Deek, those photo's are too spectacular. I love walking or driving by them too! I really think your suggestions are simple & do-able for this alcoholic. I'll take my club soda in a champagne flute please. I'll also check in for another 24 hours of Recovery. . Bobbi
