Marcher, that is so cool about your bp meds! Keep taking good care of yourself.
Have you made any citrus candy yet? I could rally around that! I made choco dipped orange and pineapple slices for Teacher's Day a couple of years ago. Yummo!
My boys know if they stay home, I'm going to make it unpleasant. They call it "home schooling" in the states.
I don't care if he is 19 and in college. Too bad for our kids that Mom's a teacher, right?

A very warm welcome we have, I sincerely hope that you've not lost us since Dee moved us forward again. Congrats on your sobriety date. I'm not permitted to introduce myself other than as a heilan coo but, I don't have as many to mark up as the rest of these crazy marchers. No matter, they've all been a god send and you will never, ever be a stranger amongst them. Even with our resident Curmudgeeon Natty.
Hi all. Sending Friday night love.
Hi all. Sending Friday night love.
A colleague of mine was stabbed to death by a 15 year old in the 1980s. A week later another colleague drove his car into a wall and killed himself. They all pretended it had nothing to do with the week before. That they didn't tell me, the youngest teacher, how they would help me cope was hardest of all. I was younger than the rest of them, nobody told me how to cope as I cried for my colleagues.
I wasn't catholic, I wasn't male in a school of boys and men, I was what I laughingly referred to as a non-catholic non-man. And I lived through that two weeks of Peter and Leo dying somehow.
That time shattered me. Nobody ever picked me up because I was too strong to need picking up. Even though I hadn't turned 30. Tonight it all slapped me in the face.
I think I have to do something about that horrible time. I didn't expect this at six months, I didn't expect it tonight. I thought I was past it but I'm not.

Marcher I am so sorry for what the younger you went through all alone. Alcohol is great for dulling the senses and for eventually burying emotions so deep we can forget all about the pain- until we sober up and those emotions begin their slow process to the surface. It hurts to recall those feelings as if they had just happened, but it is emotional growth and healing. Embrace those feelings, allow the grief and talk it through more here if you need to.
I am sending loving hugs your way Marcher. Xx

Dee, I can't believe you stole shotgun!!!! That is not cool dude!
Well you can be the one to deal with 1days inner child's tantrum when she finds out!
JG I couldn't believe that I had posted the word curmudgeonly in a post, then a few mins later saw Natty had posted it too! Then you pick it as word of the day!
Wehave2day, good to see you and congratulations on 6.5 months, we have all been PAWSing recently, perhaps that can relate to where you have been.
There definitely isn't an initiation fee, but we do make you wear a bucket on your head and eat haggis before we consider you as mentally imbalanced as the rest of us!
Hey Budd how's the ankle bling?
Sass, how's life hon? Looks like New York is getting likelier by the minute, though that may only be for the first 6 months. After that possibly Mass. Or New England. Terms are to be finalised but hubby seems to be happy with most of the offer.
Eeeek! Now the nerves are kicking in! There is an awful lot to think about and plan over the next few months!

Good morning, Marchers! This being one of my non-working days I slept in and notice the thread has been hopping!
WeHav, great to see you here! Each thread's "flavors" are different and this one is no exception. I enjoy it and hope you will, too!
Marcher, great on the BP meds. I am so sorry about what you experienced. When we stop drinking, for quite a few of us we find that the things we were blotting out or covering over are still there and dealing with them is so much more positive than trying to obliterate the feelings and memories. I'm sure this is very painful for you. It will give you the opportunity to deal with the feelings in a healthier way. (((hugs))). I think it's not uncommon for those of us who bury our feelings to be seen as stronger than we feel.
Joy, did Natty rip you off, too??? That old curmudgeon has actually been sounding pretty good recently. Although he squirms, he gets (((hugs))) from me, too, like the rest of you :-)
LifeT, yes, you are an adorable heilan coo (which I finally understand) but you are also lots of other good things!
Toots, are you back on about haggis again? Aaargh! Btw, Mass is part of New England . Although I love New York and used to live about 1/2 hour away, I'm happier in the quieter "sticks"!
Budd, 1day, Shoes and everyone else, have a great weekend!
I will be away tomorrow and Sunday at the ocean :-)

Hi Marcher.I can see by your little green light that you're online. Late for you and me for that matter! I'm wide awake courtesy of my neighbours....they're banging out the tunes and all sound v drunk. To be fair, i've just heard a rendition of Van Morrison 'brown eyed girl' and 'starry starry night' simon and g, or was that Don MacLean.....oh yes, that's right S&G wrote the starry night song something to do with nurses being killed in a nursing home, can't remember......."echoes the sound of silence". I could act clever and google before writing but i'd rather remain naive. My point being, although they do sound a little under the weather, they don't sound like schools...no matter though, amazing how our auditory perception is so easily affected by the grape, grain or whatever other poison.
Sleep well Marcher, hellooooo, as in mooo to all other Marchers.

Dearest Marcher. I've only just read your last post, glanced at your post Marcher post Toots but didn't read, i'll go back. Marcher I switched the comp on, saw your little green light and posted........a v light hearted little post, I was in a wee jovial mood. I did by not by any means mean to disrespect, belittle on minimise your last post. This is just FYI, you may now be laughing, sitting back thinking.."you silly rage bogan heilan coo, whats the fuss, not like you're going to loose leadership in the morning"!
Just sorry didn't read first before posting. Stay strong lovely one.

Thanks for the geography lesson Sass, I don't know my way around the states very well. Is Maine also in New England? Cos that might also be another place we get to stay.
LP, starry night is about Vincent Van Gogh, used to love that song it was on the pub jukebox, where I learned to play pool and drink. A misspent youth indeed.
Babs you sound as if you are in a good mood! 😃 You have a fab weekend too sweetie!

Good morning, western world! I didn't think Lifet was ever going to get to sleep!
Marcher, I hope you are getting some sleep, an emotionap at least. That darn reality! Creeping into our heads when we least expect it. It hurts, I know. Ride this wave, Marcher. We'll spot you.
Toots, Moving is always a big stressor. Moving to another country, and culture, even more so. Just don't bring that damn haggis with you. That is no way to make new friends!
Sassy, curmudgeonly certainly was a popular word! What astounded me was how spot on the definition was. Hmmmmm...
Babs, you sound fantastic! How many milkshakes have you had this week? Are you a runner?
Budd, Whatever you do, keep your anklet away from the sloshing drinks. That worries me, that someone will spill a drink on it!
Have a good Frisaturday ya'll! Joy is making gumbo this weekend and that will put me in a good mood. If anyone wants to come over for gumbo, let me know! I make gallons and gallons!
