Today I am Grateful for 10 Months
Hi all,
Wow... I cannot believe it. This week I have been totally abstinent from alcohol for 10 months. In my wildest dreams, I never thought I could make it that far after drinking everyday for at least 16 years.
I have so many hobbies now, the job is great, just celebrated 25 years married to a normal person LOL (she is a great help in this success).
After a month last year of sobriety, I was amazed and promised myself at key points I would document my status here so that I could check back if I ever felt the urge to drink. Amazingly, I have had many business trips, social functions with no urge to drink. What's funny is that people I am with limit their alcohol as well. When they ask why I don't drink, I tell them I had my fill when I was younger and that this is helping me to stay at 180 pounds! LOL
My only problem is that I am hyper sensitive to other alcoholics that work for me. But I am trying oh so hard to be patient and understanding, yet firm on performance expectations.
Thanks to this forum and the friends I made last year (too bad they are no longer around).
Hope to post again in 2 months and join Dee's 1 year club.
God Bless all! And health to your recovery!
