Today I am greatful for My weekly visit to my son at the Half way house.
We had Subway and smiles. He said some very good thoughts to me. He accepted his addiction, he is studing what it did to his brain and life, he knows he has issues and is working hard to overcome them. He then said it would take a bullet to stop him on his road to recovery. Then he said staying there till at least March is a very good choice for him...Even though he only looks at thing one day at a time. One great in a strange way was he said Yesterday he had an eppisode, he walked and spoke with the guys and therapist there, Yet he did not call me. That is something major to me, he handled it.
Short sweet and nice visit. I could not feel better at this moment.

This 15 minutes again I am thankful. My son got off restriction at the 1/2WH and went for a quick lunch with us. He was so accepting of how far he has to go, but how good things were today. It was very nice to have a lunch with a "person" we have not seen in years it seems like. Plus clean since Oct 19 and counting I am very happy for him.
Congrats ctg to you & your son This is a deadly disease so when I read great stories like this one my heart glows.
Are you getting any help for yourself like Alanon? The reason I ask is they say that when the whole family gets help it is a benefit not only to the addict/alcoholic but to the whole family.
My prayers go out to you and your son..

We as a family attend the lectures/courses the facility offers. I read and read and visit many forums. When he returns home and returns to the facility for his meetings, we will attend the loved ones meetings at the same time.
I know everything can change in a blink of an eye and I have no blinders on. But for today I am so proud of this Man . This will be an accomplishment far greater then anything he will ever do.

Today I am thankful that my son has asked (and we agreed) to stay one more month at the 1/2 way house and one more month of IOP. How far he has grown as a man since when he started this life long process.
He is so lucky to have a loving family behind him some of us are not so lucky, but we do have each other and for that I am eternally grateful.

Thankful for my son's sucess so far. He is working hard and clean since 10-19-11. A very nice two days home from 1/2WH. I am thankful that I am growing and learning also. I asked what I should/could I do while he is home and he said "Nothing, we are all good. If he needed anything he would for sure let me know".

I am thankful today that my son is coming home in two weeks. I really am. No blinders on this time, no enabling, but instead support of his journey to be healthy whatever and however he reaches that place in life.

I am thankful today that I was able to understand and accept (after a great deal of thinking) that my son has chosen to stay at the 1/2wh another month. He is moving from IOP into the Recovery group and wishes to stay while working through this. I am thankful that he is doing what he wants/needs for his success. I am thankful that I speak to a man now when I speak with him.

Today I am greatful that I see it has been two months since I started my Gratitude Posts. I started it with a Good call from Rehab. I am gratefull at how far my son has come, how far I have come. Today I stopped by to drop off a piece of my Birthday Cake. Son was out and about. Doing what buiness needs to get done. I met two very nice fellows that live in the house. As I drove away I realized how far we have come in this journey.
