Old Drinking Buddy OD'd
Old Drinking Buddy OD'd
Wow. Another of those posts. I just got off the phone, an old drinking buddy OD'd this morning. They aren't sure if he's going to make it and they are not even sure what all he was taking. He was definitely drinking, taking Lortabs and Soma, but they are not sure of what else. I'm waiting on a phone call.
I had him in AA for a while but he's been back out there for a couple of years.
Another not so nice reminder of what is waiting for us if we relapse.

Soma huh? That's a bad one. Several years ago I was prescribed them for muscle spasms. When I found out they were barbiturates - I dumped them. If he was boozing, taking opiods, AND barbiturates... I shudder think about the results. I hope he pulls through buddy.
Prayers to your friend. I hope he gets better. I can relate to you on this, one of my old girlfriends that I used to party with od last weekend. It really hits home when these things happen, Like wow, that could have so easily been me.
Indeed. I was pretty much a straight alcoholic but I dabbled in other stuff too. I could and probably should be dead by now.
DGilz -
My prayers are with you and your friend and his family. In the past two months, both of my brothers have OD'd on Bath Salts - one was in intensive care for a couple of days and it is so scary.
Take care of yourself -

(((dgillz))) - I hope your friend pulls through and grasps his second chance for all it's worth.
Addiction is crazy. I was an ER/ICU nurse, took care of several patients that OD'd, but when I was drinking and drugging, I never thought it would happen to me. Though I never ended up in ER or ICU, I probably should have a couple times. I remember being drunk, falling and hitting my head on the corner of a wooden chair. I refused to go to the ER because I WORKED at both the local hospitals and knew they would run all kinds of tests, not knowing if I was confused because of the alcohol or head injury.
I'm praying for you and your friend. Thanks for the reminder of where I was, and don't ever want to go back to again.
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

UPDATE: My buddy pulled through. He was in ICU now in a regular room. I just got back from visiting him. He asked me about AA again. Hopefully it'll work this time. I hate this disease.
