Seroquel for bi-polar?
Seroquel for bi-polar?
Hi!
Just saw my psyc, and I'm on effexor for my anxiety/depression, she lowered my dose and suggested I take seroquel at night as a mood stabilizer. I've taken it in the past but I thought it was just for sleep because it knocked me out but she told me to take it every night and it should help even out my moods. Anyone have any experience with seroquel daily use for bi-polar in addition to anti-depressants/anxiety meds?
If you have any I'd gladly appreciate it, it seems like I'm a roller coaster of emotions sometimes and my poor husband gets the worst of it.
Thank you

Hi Yes, I am bipolar II and have been on a combination of Seroquel/Lithium for a couple of months now but have been on Seroquel for years. It's always worked reallly well for me, esp. the Seroquel XR. I know how hard it is to search for the right meds! So good luck. Oh and yes, it has a tendency to knock ya out which is a huge plus for me being an insomniac lol

Seroquel xr worked well for me too until I developed a side effect that was serious enough to have to stop the medication. I am bipolar, with chronic anxiety/depression and PTSD
Thank you, so much for the feedback! I've been tried other bi-polar meds in the past and gave up but I really want to stick to this one because like you said it does knock you out pretty good and I suffer from insomnia quite a bit also.
Thanks again

okay, opposite experience here; Seroquel did help me sleep- but WOW. soon I become MORE manic, pacing the floor, bouncing off walls, talking to myself like mad... I wound up in the hospital and the Doctor there was a med specialist, he said right away "those meds aren't right for you" took me off the Seroquel, changed my meds, spent a week in the hospital and got better. In my case, Seroquel was not good for me at all.
