If this thread doesnt belong here, please remove it and post it where it does. Thanks.
Anyway theres a lot of movies out there about drug abuse Addiction, but whats your personal favorite? Trainspotting, Spun, Basketball Diaries, Requiem for a Dream, etc. All great films, but my personal favorite is Basketball Diaries, thats so realistic, all of them are, but I enjoyed TBD more.

When I was user I loved movies like Requiem for a Dream.
In retrospect, most drug movies (particularly RFAD) very obviously glorified drug abuse and exploited the issue for money. Nearly every drug buddy of mine loved RFAD. Yes, the movie ended in tragedy, but I don't think most users don't see their life ending that way. If they do, they see it as a romanticized end to life because hey, it happened in the movie and it was so dramatic!
Movies like RFAD also allow users to say, "At least my life and my drug problem isn't THAT bad." And of course the experimental style, hauntingly beautiful score and gorgeous characters is a love letter to users everywhere.
So yea, I'm definitely not a fan of these types of movies anymore. Maybe I sound like a crotchety old man, but I'm just that disgusted by them at this point. I'm with Dee, I dig recovery movies, there's still a lot I need to see. I liked Crazyheart and You Kill Me a lot.

Requiem for a Dream is pretty crazy. I like it cause it really only shows the desperation and insanity of drug addiction, it doesn't glamorize getting high. Itt'd be a good movie to show to young kids if it wasn't so X rated.
Pulp Fiction. Ive never seen one of these movies that put the drug use in a positive light though...guess that's a good thing. It really shouldn't be glamorized. I only can really associate drug use with the resulting misery anymore. Anything else is a trick to try to use again.

For us ancianos!
All right, since this thread did not get kicked off the forum, here is one for the REALLY OLD among us:
REEFER MADNESS from the 50's. Hilarious black and white thing they actually showed us in grade school in the 50's. I am NOT lying. They really did. It has become somewhat of a cult film in the last 20 years or so.
