Ahh! Temptations!
How do I better myself against temptations? Just today, I've had people contacting me, tempting me with getting high and having a good time. I know that's it better that I don't take them up on their offer, but it's hard when I think about what it will feel like to get high. How do you overcome this?
In recovery we can make some good choices for ourselves
that will result in a happier healthier life for us. Wiser choices.
I chose to stay sober by going to any lengths to do so. In
rehab, 20 yrs ago, i was handed the tools and knowledge
of my alcoholismto use toward learning to live a day at a time alcohol free.
There were lots of members that were staying sober for many years by going to meetings and sharing their own ESH- experiences, strengths and hopes of what it was like before during and after drinking with me and others struggling or
just getting sober or clean.
I listened intentively and absorbed all that I could by the messages of hope found in their shares. I took their
suggestions seriously and followed thru to the best of
my ability taking the steps and principles of our recovery
program set down before us and applied them to my life
a day at a time.
As a result of following thru, i am still sober today happier
and freer as i continue to help theres still suffering from
addiction. A suggestion to me from the beginning would have been to change people, places and things that have anything to do with drinking or drugging. Even if it meant changing my number on my cell. However, back in 1990 cell phones may not have been cause I know i didnt have one.

There will always be temptation, but how you handle it is up to you. Do you give in and start this long road from the beginning again? Or do you stay strong and push forward and have the life you really want and deserve?
