staying clean is harder than getting clean
Hi guys, im back. i first came on here 3 years ago, i wasnt ready then but this site helped. Im clean off the opiates for the past 6 months, my life is better although im in loads of debt. I feel vunerable but happy to be back
Welcome back, and congrats on 6 months! I just came back from a relapse after 4 months clean. Today is my 1 week-- baby steps.
I feel vulnerable too, especially since my DoC (DXM) is so easy to get, and I recently learned where to get other drugs (didn't want to know, but addict ears pick up such conversations).

It's worth distinguishing getting clean from staying clean.
For me, getting clean is a mission, it's like a project with a start and end date, so you actually have the advantage of a goal. Staying clean is like, the goal is met, it's over and now suddenly you have to live with yourself. That's why staying clean can be so hard, because we have to deal with all things we used to run from.
