Hi All!!!

Well, I am hoping you all will let me join your group...I've been reading through your threads and your approachs feel a lot more "right" to me then the more AA approach.

However, there is a glitch, I believe strongly in God and consider myself Christian...shocking I know, especially considering I grew up in an agnostic/atheist household.

That said, AAs approach rubs me the wrong way on a lot of levels. The way I deal with problems is through information. Knowledge is power, this concept seems lacking in AAs philosophy, which makes me uncomfortable. It is my belief that it is all the research I have done these past few years that. Is keeping me sober today, I just also think God placed the right info in my path when I needed it.

So let me know if its ok I I hang out some with you all. Thx!

Hmmmmmm, maybe. We're a pretty exclusive bunch you know. Many people mistakenly think of us as being a minority, but we're just an under advertised silent majority seriously lacking in any napoleon complex driven leadership. Do you know the secret handshake?

Ah, what the heck, we set the bar pretty low around here - welcome aboard

I'm with you in that knowledge is the key!

I have the decoder rings and I'm pretty stingy with them... mostly cuz I keep losing them. Ah well, if I ever find them again I'll get one to you.

There are plenty of religious folks around here. I'm not one of them, but they make an appearance once in a while. Using a secular approach to recovery does not in any way mean we necessarily don't like religion. Religious beliefs run the gamut in here.

So welcome to our motley crew. Your decoder ring is in the mail... eventually.

Welcome to group LaFemme.

I believe secular recovery methods can complement any other world view beliefs. I see secular recovery concerning its self with addiction recovery only and not some belief conversion agenda.

I'm here to convert them. That's why I get to keep the decoder rings; it's all about the subliminal messages. Hehehe

Now come to the dark side. We have cookies!

Actually, there are three subliminal messages, the other two are so much more subliminaliar that nobody ever notices

(Keep that bit under your hats, okay?)

Welcome! I've come to believe after having tried many different angles that knowledge really is power. The beauty of recovery is that we get to create. For cold hard facts I've found niaa website is about the best meta analysis of treatment methodologies there is. Everyone is a little different, but having some kind of plan is very helpful.
