Question Xanax Addiction and depression

hi my name is Ryan and i have a problem. in the last few months i have been taking my xanax more and more. especialy days like this when i feel there is no hope in the world even when i tryed to associat with freinds this evening playing D&D, i felt excluded because i did'nt know how to play so i got up and left the table i was very angry that i was not realy so i felt being included in the game. back to the point i have been taking like 6 xanax at a time to be able to deal with the presures and so that i could spend more time with people. well the docter put me on liazapam to get me off the xanax but the thing is that it doesnt work hardly at all. im so hurt and up set tonight that i could cut my self. the xanax realy seemed to help and my wife took away what i had left and hid it and i could realy use some right now to calm me down, the urge to cut is very very strong im not sure that i will be able to stop my self if something doesnt change the erg is a day to day thing but when im depressed it is worse.

Hello there Ryan

I am sorry to hear that you are feeling so bad.

It sounds clear to me that you need to call your doctor right away and tell your doctor how you are feeling. Tell your doctor he needs to give you more medication to make the bad feelings go away. There are many, many different medications he can try until you are happy with what he gives you.

If you cannot get a hold of your doctor then grab your phone book and call the crisis line and tell them how you are feeling.

You can also ask your wife to come and read what you wrote, and to read the suggestions I just gave you.

Go make those phone calls now.

Mike

In the PDR, depression is listed as the second most frequent side effect.
Switching to klonopin helped alot, but we also did a short detox with the xanax concurrently with the xanax. And changed my ant'ds

There is help. There is hope.

As live said there is hope, can you go and talk with your Dr. about your feelings or maybe get help from a councellor? please know we're here to help and I'm sure others with experience of cutting will be along soon with help. Please try not to take so much xanax.
All my very best to you indigo

prednizone

i hurt my knee a week or so ago and the docter put me on prednizone, well it didnt help with the swelling so i just went to another docter and come to find out that prednizone is not good for bipolors to be on so maybe that was a big part of my crash the other was the feeling of rejection so when they tumbled togetheri almost harmed my self. well today i am doing alot better i was put on something better and some vicodin which is helping somewhat with the pain. yeah my wife is moderating my intake of vic. so that i do not overtake which i have a habit of doing with most pain meds. Another year has gone by and things are the same as always except that there are a few things looking up for me in the neer future, i was aproved for disability, it took threee years for me to get on it. Now i just have to wait for the ssi to start to show up but i have at least 2 more months of waiting, the court thing was done on the 23 of sept. Well i at least have something to look forwards to this year that and hope that the fishing is good.

Thank you for giving us an update. I have been wondering how you have been doing. Good thing you were able to find out that prednisone was not something that mixed well with the bipolar. Take care.

(((Ryan)))
Your second doc is right; prednizone is not good at all for people with bipolar!
I don't suffer from that disorder, but, I swear I *become* bipolar when I'm on it! I've asked my doc NOT to put me on it anymore! Dr Jeckle and Mr Hyde, I am! Was the first doc aware of your condition?

I'm glad you were finally approved for disability. Please do healthy things for yourself while you are not working, though. Sitting around doing nothing will not be good for you. Taking care of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and physically takes time -- alot of it. And it's the best thing you can do for yourself. So, please do it -- for yourself. I never felt so good as I did this past summer. For the first time in my life, I didn't have to work, and I took great care of myself. I wish I was back there once more....

Remember your signature line!

Shalom!

as a recovering xanax addict, i'd recommend an alternative medication. Stop before it gets worse.

I too was hooked on xanax. I took it and abused it the majority of 15 years. I am not a dr and will not give you medical advise. For me I had to stop taking it. good luck.

Ryan, have you been told weather or not your SSI will be retroactive to the day you applied? Or is that part of the court dealings?

Let us know how you are.

You may want to look into some counseling services. Often they have sliding scale fees and are often free to community members. It can be a nice outlet to help manage day to day stuff and help you with longer-term stuff too.
