Perception and attitude
I found this to be some interesting thoughts on perception and attitude. I hope you do to. Please take a moment to share your thoughts on the subject after reading.
"We moan about not working; and if we get a job we moan about the director, the script, and the reviews. If the play's a hit we moan about the long run ahead of us. Then we moan because the play closes and we're out of work" Derek Jacobi
Some of us make almost an art of complaining, finding fault with every change in our circumstances, whether for good or ill. Nothing ever seems to go the way we think if should. Even when we get what we pray for, we immediately begin worrying about tomorrow: what if we can't keep what we have today!
Satisfaction is an active process that requires our participation; it isn't simply a matter of being given particular gifts. Some of us are full of gratitude for a simple meal, others find fault with a banquet. The difference is less a matter of the menu than of our attitudes. Satisfaction requires a shift of focus. When we decide to meet each experience with a sense of awe and gratitude, we suddenly find ourselves in a generous universe. We are at ease and content.

Nandm, I like this post very much. I have found in sobriety I complain far less and my nightly prayers have changed. I use to beg God to help me, change my circumstances and forgive me....now I thank him, I ask nothing for myself because I have everything I need. For so long I had forgotten the power that humans have been given, the ability to change, to learn from our mistakes, the courage to tackle things we once thought impossible. My attitude towards many things have changed drastically in sobriety. I look forward to waking up in the morning because I know that everyday is a gift...somedays it's a pair of socks.....somedays it's a new car!!! lol
Thanks for the post

Hi nandm
great article !
For me, I have found that my attitude to life has totally turned around! Seemingly , without me noticing ! LOL
It says in the BB "we will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us", and I used to wonder when and how, but now , I realise that it has happened!
I have no idea where my self pity , and victim perception went, or when it went, but I know I am glad it has !
All I have done is follow the suggested things, and do the steps to the best of my ability, and it has worked
Thanks for the post

Cool artical it reminds me of a quote and I'm not sure who it is.
"The ultimate human freedom is the ability to choose one's attitude in any circumstance"
Basically it is up to the individual. I work with someone that is so miserable and after twelve years of seeing it I've come to realize he wants to be miserable it is his choice. I choose to try and have a positive attitude even when things don't look that positive. That's not to say I never get down but I make sure my ups are much more than my downs. This is key for my in so many aspects of life and without a doubt in sobriety.
