Combat PTSD
Combat PTSD
I am going to a session today. I hate having to revisit this again. Most of all I dread tonight. I always feel better a few days later but, the nightmares and visions make the journey difficult. My senses become my enemy. The sounds the visions and even smells transport me back to the very moment of the deaths and the killing.
No suggestions, just a bucket of hugs for you Don. Your willingness to try and try again are a huge inspiration for me.
My prayers go out that you may find the peace you so deserve, within your heart.

((((hugs)))))
My husband just got that diagnosis. He would never open up to the VA drs, so I went with him and told on him as the nightmares were getting worse and worse.
They gave him a pill to stop the nightmares, and they are better, his next appointment is for tests and evaluations.
I have a different kind of PTSD and the actual memories are mostly blacked out and I sure don't want to recall them...I know what happened intellectualy and that is enough for me. But my symptoms have been fading for awhile now. Two months ago I was having violent nightmares every night, but the Dr changed my anti-depressant and they stopped immediately.
I have read that the therapy that releases this, is to talk through and etc the actual horrors.
I really would not want to do that. You are being incredibly brave! Best wishes to you!
