Question What's this about?

Hmmm....this is weird...
My old counselor called me yesterday. She called again today. She wants me to come in and see her next week!

Now, we stopped seeing each other months ago. She "released" me? I guess you would say. We had nothing left to work on about.

Why the hell is she calling me?

I did have my physical a few weeks ago. And I had signed a release for my doc and her to speak. They never had that I'm aware of. I even asked once, and they hadn't. So, while it's possible the doc contacted her, I'd be VERY surprised.

First, he would have let me know, I'm sure. Second, it's been weeks since my appointment, so, why wait?

What the hell is going on? Can anyone figure?

I called back and left a message saying I would come. But, I DID ask what's up? I stated that she's never called *me* for me to come in, before, lol!

Am I crazy? Or more crazy than I thought? :andy:

Shalom!

Maybe your counselor just wants to check in with you? Just as a follow up??

Maybe they just really like you and miss you...LOL (that's what I would assume if it were me..lol)

Yes Teach, a therapist called me to chat, and
see how I was. I think about three months
after we had stopped our sessions, all of
my issues resolved at that point. I went
back to see him for a follow-up. It was
very nice.

Thank you, Stefanie;
That's good to hear. I've seen this woman a few different times, and this has never happened before.
Strange...

I appreciate your input.

The only thing my gut says is confused.
This has never occured with her.
I called back, saying I would come, but, specifically asked what was up. She never called back and that was last week. She's had plenty of time to call, so, I can only imagine that she doens't want to talk on the phone.
WTF?

Hi, Reiki;

I met with her this past week. She said she thought we had an appointment -- on Yom Kippur day!
Not even a chance! I'm in services ALL DAY on Yom Kippur. I would never schedule anything that day! It's the most important Holy Day of the Jewish faith!
So, there's somehting, I don't know.
But, I'm back there talking to her.
Maybe she talked to my career counselor, and decided she wanted me to be able to come and talk things out. But, why not just say that?
I don't know...

Thanks for asking.

Shalom!

Hi Teach,

Nah, sounds weird to me too. It's not unheard of to conduct follow-ups if the client-counselor relationship was many months long or more, but see, I look at this thread and wonder why all the mystery on both ends. LOL

You could just ask! Radical I know, I know!

Also, for me I couldn't stand being kept in such suspense.

Ten

I DID ask. That's when she said she thought we had an appointment on Yom Kippur. I am not into games. '

Hi Teach,
(by the way, I'm a teacher, too. high school English)
Feels funny to me. My therapist is so straightforward and clear. I can really let down and relax with her. Sounds odd to me....
-hope your holiday was pleasant

Hi, Reiki;
My holiday was very pleasant, thanks. We gathered with the family. My mom was in the hospital, so, she couldn't be with us, unfortunately. I spoke to her on the phone, cuz, I had a cold and didn't want to bring in my germs to her in the hospital. She's got enough going on without added problems!

I do hope you had a pleasant day too! Thanks for asking!

I teach high school history. Could ya tell? lol!

It IS weird, and I'm not sure how I want to handle this. Seems like she's playing a game, and as I said, I'm not into games. :nono:
I am CERTAIN she said we didn't need to meet anymore. Then she says we had a non-existent meeting on the most holy day of my faith.
It's definately NOT kosher, lol!
and I'm disappointed in this behavior.
But, not sure what I want to do about it. Sometimes, it's best to pick your battles, ya know what I mean?

Shalom!

True we do have to pick our battles; however, therapists sometimes have boundary issues, too. This would bug me too much not to ask.
Asking may deepen the honesty level of your sessions, too.

Ayup. Takes us right back to the communication aspect: You're not into games - so (again) - ask. *???* I don't understand the big mystery over all this. (Obviously.)

Yeah but why don't you just ask, for cryng out loud?

LOL j/k
Ok, Teach. Very sorry to have irritated you, it just seems to us that if you'd asked "why on Yom Kippur?" then you'd have been given an answer and there would be no head-scratching or wondering why.

o o p s i e :p

Looks like the joke is on us for our lapse of attention. Reiki, I give to you... THIS:

"I met with her this past week. She said she thought we had an appointment...."

Now, I suppose it could be that Teach's counselor simply forgot all about the Jewish faith dealy. Dunno - but I'm sorry for drilling you, HistoryTeach.

Shalom indeed,
Ten
