| We Do Recover | Are you ok--blue? Sorry, just now saw your post. I suffer from anxiety/panic attacks also--though not nearly as often as I used to. Have you tried any breathing techniques?...like breathing into a paper bag.....taking deep, slow breaths for instance? Hope you are feeling better.

Thanks Itsa and Angelina for your help. I haven't had an attack so bad in forever and I really don't want another. Now I can try to get back in bed and try ? to get some sleep. Tomorrow's going to be a rough day............ |

Blue, I have trouble with anxiety and I'm doing pretty well now. Basically what worked for me was to absolutely BELIEVE that anxiety is NOT fatal. Yes panic attacks are awful...I've had them really bad. But I keep telling myself "well, it is just anxiety". Seemed impossible at first to have that attitude about it. The idea is to make anxiety trivial...like no big deal in your mind. Once you achieve that, the power of anxiety starts to go away. My fear of having another attack made me anxious the entire day. I went through a lot of therapy to address my anxiety problems. That certainly helped, but in the end, I realized that the only way I was going to recover was to start getting back into life...facing those difficult situations in life instead of avoiding them. Small steps lead to more and more...every small or large accomplishment is to be celebrated! When you see your confidence building you'll know you are on your way! I hope this helps...I feel your pain indeed. --mike |

Thanks Mike, Today is worse but in a way better. I had to take my 18 year old cat to be put down this morning. The anxiety last night was from trying to be strong and not cry. And as difficult situations go, that one is really hard to face. But I got through it with the help of a wonderful vet. The anxiety is gone replaced by a hole in my heart and a lot of tears. |
