Hi, bluenena!
I had BuSpar years ago. I had no negative effects from it, and it did help a bit.
The best thing is, it's not addictive. It's not a benzodiazapam anti-anxiety, which can create many of it's own problems.

Hope this helps!

Shalom!

Everything you want in an anxiolytic....without the efficacy. (not my quote, just a popular one in medicine)

It can be good to take the edge off, but slower and less effective than a benzo.

The good news is that if it works for you, it is far better in the long run than any benzo. Of course, if it works for you...that is usually a good thing!

Buspar???? I hated it. I could feel my heart beat in my thumbs. I know that sounds way out there but that's yhr truth. If it works for you all the better. I wish you well

Its not bad. Most doctors say it doesnt do anything. I take it 15mg three times a day. It seems to help but it only lasts for a short time. If I have some severe anxiety it is not that great.

Ive been on Buspar since I quit drinking, I only take 5mg every night before bed, it helps me fall asleep and keeps the edge off all day, if something stressful is coming up the next day i take 2 the night before.
I take them at night cause I cant function if i take them in the day time.

I'm starting buspar today. I'm too afraid to take anything else(valium, ativan, etc) for anxiety. I've been in and out of recovery since august of 04 and don't plan on going back out. I've tried valerian root in the past as well and it has helped me out a little bit.

It's helped me, without the dangers of benzo-type addiction.

I thought this was an interesting post...my Dr has been trying about everything non-narcotic on me. For some strange reason hmm, she does not trust me with Benzos..Started with Beta Blockers...last was Neurontin (which I felt like crap on) and she just started me on Buspar 10 mg 2X Daily. At night Seroquel 25mg. On top of that Straterra for add/adhd. Right now in the lets wait and see if it works mode.
