Antibotics OK with SSRI's?

I have to visit the ENT (Ears nose and throat) doctor tomorrow. With all the kids sneezing, coughing and passing on their germs to me (I teach), I often get infections around my throat making it painful to swallow. I have the begining of it now, and want to get the doctor to apply the meds to it, like a creamy substance. He will likely prescribe painkillers (For a fever I don't have) just in case I get a fever as well as antibiotics. I will tell him I'm on Paxil, but I don't know that he will know whether or not this is OK to be taken with Paxil. I will ask my Paxil prescribing doctor if it's OK, but I won't see him until next week. I don't want to pay for meds that I won't be allowed to take.

Are antibiotics a no no?

Talk to the pharmacist. They know more about drug interactions then most Drs do.

I've had many clients prescribed anti-biotics with anti-depressants.

The warning on the SSRI's say to stay away from monoamine oxidase inhibitors.

and triptans for migraines

Concomitant use in patients taking either monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or thioridazine is contraindicated (see WARNINGS and PRECAUTIONS).

Concomitant use in patients taking pimozide is contraindicated (see PRECAUTIONS). PAXIL is contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to paroxetine or any of the inactive ingredients in PAXIL.

Alright...I will pay for the antibotics and talk to my doctor later this week. I will ask the pharmacist as well. The standard of care and information is a bit different over here.
