| I can't sleep...
It is 12:50 am on Monday and I am wide awake. I can't sleep and I'm feeling sick. It almost feels like a hangover but I haven't been drinking (I've been sober for over a year now). I have a headache and I'm sweating with slight nervous shakes. This is not the first time I have felt this way, this has happened to me many times in the last year or so. Could this be a side effect from being sober for so long? Could such a side effect stay with me for such a long time? Is there anyone else here who has been sober as long (or longer) who has had these problems?

Well I have had many different amounts of TIME with this disease and I would sure say YES it is normal. One thing I always know is that when I get like that it is usually just my untreated alcoholism rearing its ugly head. I have to regroup..get back to basics..I usually am not taking care of myself in some really small ways when I feel like that, I have to go to meetings or that feeling creeps back on me. Yeah you are pretty normal to feel taht way I would say. I hear oldtimers talk about it all the time too so ...go to a meeting and just listen. I am doing the same myself here in a few hours... So what do you like to do with your free time in sobriety???????? It is 20 below out there right now and us Alaskans get kinda squirrely in the winter time.. So ou play the guitar?? Thats cool...does that help you wind down??? Help with the anxiety?? Music definitely helps me too. Nazareth huh?? Great name for a town!!! love north |

Hi there, I have this sometime too, anxiety, never knew I suffered from it till I got sober.... Try to be gentle with yourself, I mean really take care of yourself, whatever you do to unwind, kick it up a notch, meditiation etc... Meetings do help with this too, I usually have soemthing going on when my sleeping is disturbed that I am stressed about, sharing about it at a meeting is very helpful. Love, Rose
