Must be an acquired taste. I prefer a more secular flavor.

Man, in this thread, the recovering alcoholics are actually telling newcomers to drink OJ to replenish thier bodies. Someone go stop them, for gosh sakes.

The point was that the amount of alcohol in near beer is physically negligible, but can be a psychological trigger. Hence OJ would be fine.

The horror!!! Don't they know?!? Not the dreaded high-alcohol-content Orange Juice? Thousands of alcoholics all relapsing at breakfast! Oh, it's madness, I tell you! Madness!

I live in Florida. Somehow, I feel.......... responsible...?

Y'know what's really got alcohol in it?

Alcohol.

That's not how I understand it.

The alcoholic brain doesn't know the difference between a little and a lot of alcohol, hence the saying, "One is too many and a thousand never enough". It's a chemical thing, not a psychological process.

Non-alcoholic beer has, what, .5% alcohol in it (on average)? So by your logic, if an addict snorted only .5% cocaine, it wouldn't be a problem? Hey, why not let the kids do it? I mean, what's the harm? After all, it's "negligible"... kinda like shooting oneself in the head with a small-caliber handgun. You only die a little...

Additionally, according to a report published by Indiana
University, a standard glass of orange juice contains between
.2% and .5% alcohol. Six glasses of orange juice could
theoretically create the same culpability in a minor as six
bottles of non-alcoholic beer.

Well, wouldja look at that? I've been riding this rock around the sun for 37 years now, and only today is it made clear to me that there is actually alcohol in orange juice! Who'da thunk it?

'Knob, I stand (or rather, sit) corrected! My apologies for thinking you were completely off yer bean for a bit there...

Quite an educational day at the NCP house...

Thanks, Doorknob!

And, lest I forget, a big thank you to Google: Helping people not have to think or actually remember anything since 1996!
