St. Patricks Day

Turns out I don't care about my irish heritage that much.

Salty meats are fine, occasionally.

Bagpipes are also fine, occasionally.

Guess I really loved today because it was a day that I could REALLY drink a lot, guilt free. Never mind I drank almost that much every other day also.

Now its just kind of blah.

I just got back from the mall. I purchased a nice lime green dress shirt especially for tonight's occasion. What really sands out in my mind these days is how 95% of my clothing is basically brand new. Purchased with the savings I have retained since I stopped drinking and drugging.

Mind you, someone is paying me to be around a bunch of obnoxious drunks tonight. Otherwise, I wouldn't go near a place like this with a ten foot pole. Still, my life isn't "over" because I stopped drinking. It's only just begun.

So has yours.

St. Patrick is my Patron Saint. He also believed in "Keep It Simple".

top o the mornin ta ya...

Interesting. Last st patty day I didn't drink, same for new years eve. I called it amateur night. In fact I think the past many NYE I was asleep before midnite. Same with ST Pat's Day - most people don't even know what it's about. It's just an excuse for many to drink. Just like cinco de mayo. It's just another made up day for advertisers to push their product - namely alcohol - and the average american has no idea what it's about. For many it's an excuse to act like a fool. We real drinkers didn't need an excuse to get drunk or act like a fool. It was too dangerous to be out on the road on those days.

Yes, my Irish blood has gotten me into some trouble.

On my bucket list is a bike tour of the Emerald Isle. A few years ago hitting every pub along the way was part of it. Now, if I can just get a couple days in fishing, play a few rounds of golf and smell the country side it will be worth it.

St. Patrick's Day is 420 for alcoholics! Someone posted that on my FB page and I thought that was pretty funny.
