Where you've been and where you're going is only as important as what you do about it right now. I was scared to death on the day I went to my first AA meeting. I wasn't sure I was alcoholic, although every bit of evidence pointed to the fact that I was. I just wasn't ready to admit it yet. I didn't want to be on of "those." I wasn't sure where I was going, I just knew I didn't want any more of where I'd been. If that's all you can muster up Pete, that's good enough for a start. All these statistics about which method works and which one doesn't don't really mean a thing because if a person doesn't want to stop drinking, and isn't willing to make enough of a committment to achieve whatever it takes to stop, I don't care if they're tied down in a chair. When they're untied, the first thing they'll do is go get a drink. I know one thing for sure. "I" wouldn't go to anyone for advice on how to stop drinking or drugging unless they were an alcoholic or a drug addict. Numbers be damned. If you haven't walked the walk, you can't talk the talk, at least not to me. Comtempt prior to investigation....maybe. So what??? There's something to be said for being sick and tired of being sick and tired.

You know that phrase being sick and tired of being sick and tired sums it all up so well. Sometimes I cant believe how exhausting this can be. Drinking just to feel normal and then having to put a superhuman effort in to cover up the fact youve been drinking, not to mention the lies, deceipt, hidden booze etc , what an absurd waste of time and effort. And for what? I dont know the answer to that anymore, I probably never did. It would be a relief to be rid of the monkey once and for all. Pete
