Day 1

New day and a new beginning. Tonight is my first night not drinking and committing to quitting in a long time. My life hasn't fallen apart yet but I know it will eventually. My other goal, besides sobriety, is to make one post on here each sober day. I don't know if it will work, but I do know that if I don't try, it can't work. God Bless.

Welcome back appachem and congrats on day 1. Checking in here daily sounds like a good idea to me, have you considered any other plans moving forward?

Thanks for the messages. Day 2 was much more difficult. I was much more agitated today but at the same time, I knew why. Reading these forums definitely help. Lots of thoughts. I suppose today was truly day 1 because I only drank after 6pm so last night would be night zero, if that makes sense. I know it's my "booze brain" talking but it's saying things like "you're a grump because you're not drinking, etc". I get inspired by reading everybody's stories in other forums. Day 2 was a success. I'm not comfortable but I posted here, and stayed sober. God Bless.

Why not start an accountability thread to post to every day? There's also the 24 hour recovery connections thread in Daily Support.

Get active on the forum. I come here every day. It has helped me so much in staying sober.

These uneasy feelings will pass - then you never have to go back to the bad old days. Congrats on Day 2 - we're proud of you, appachem.

Well done, Appachem.

Can I ask what an accountability thread is?
