One for the victory column
Been trying to be sober for the last 3 months or so. Have been able to abstain on/off for a week or two at a time, but something would trigger me. This last run has been 7 days, and I met w/ old college friends for a BBQ. Only one of them knows what's going on with me, so there were plenty of opportunities for me to sneak off and drink, but I didn't. Stuck to water and a coke. Had a really lovely time being present and in the moment with old friends... A refreshing change🙂 Gives me hope!
Well done Rox! I can so relate to the "being present and in the moment" comment. While drinking, my mind would quickly wander to focusing on the next drink. Or monitoring how quickly my glass was emptying in regards to everyone else. Or how I was going to plan my escape so I could continue drinking elsewhere, by myself. Sobriety is definitely a refreshing change! Keep it up.
