Personally I could never self detox by cutting back, not sure in my case if its possible because when I start I simply can't stop however when I could not get in a detox centre and knowing the dangers I went to my doc and received a medication to help me and avoid most of the dangers.

Tried that and the doctor refused to prescribe referring me to the detox- which I can't visit right away due to work. I'm not making myself worse by drinking. Until I can get to that detox unit I'm not touching a thing bar juice and lemonade
