A volunteer hollyhock came up in my vegetable garden and quickly grew to just over 12 ft 3 inches (3.7 meters) high. They usually only get about 1/2 that tall; the record is 24 ft. I don't think she will get that high... but on the island... who knows?

Not yet, I planted the vegetables later so nothing has ripened. I will have some pole beans soon.

I am not a big fan of hollyhocks so I would probably never grow one myself. At first I was going to pull it up, but it was so lovely. Then it grew so fast I decided to keep it. I did have to cut a branch off at the bottom, it was crowding the tomatoes.

I know you are upset about the Belgium and Iceland defeats, but we still have Wales to root for so come out of hiding.
