6 months today!
I'm celebrating 6 months sober today.
I walked into my first meeting in July (and wrote about it here)
I slipped a few times, got a sponsor and serious about my sobriety and trying AA.
Is AA the only way? Nope, but it is working for me and I really like the program.
Fast forward to today. I work hard on my program. I made a lot of awesome friends in the program and we get together several times a week, yes for meetings but also to participate in shared interests. My friends today are real friends.
I now wear the same jean waist size that I did in college.
I changed careers (and am I really love my new job) I found a great relationship. I picked up some new hobbies.
I could go on.
Nothing's perfect and I have regular challenges but I can say my problems aren't too bad, I rarely feel sick and most importanty, my life is so much better than it used to be.
I'm celebrating today with a couple bottles of cream soda while I cook up some ribs.
If I can do it, you can too.
CJ.

Comgratulations on 6 months, that is fantastic! I'm glad you have found something that works for you, that is the most important thing. The ribs sound great, when can we expect them to be ready? :-)
Congrats on 6 months! I'm the cake person at my Sunday morning meeting. Today we had 2 friends celebrate 27 and 28 years of recovery! Yeah. I love the friends I've made the last 3 years; I agree real true friends, not just drinking bodies.

Thank You!
The thread seemed pretty down lately so I felt some good news was in order.
I was nervous to post this level of detail. I'm not that big on attention and its not to brag but to show others there is hope, that anyone can do this, and that good things can happen in sobriety.
Thank you all for your very kind words.
CJ.

but some achievements deserve a little attention. its good to allow people to tell you when you've done a good job.
