I always said this would be my bottom...
I have had health problem for years (alcohol related) and kept going back to drink . Addiction is not just black and white , if it was I would have stayed sober.
IRTQ I hope you manage to stay sober this time . Take care.

Here's some interesting news.. And something I pondered and you will too.. So, turns out I had food poisoning (I'm on antibiotics for that now).. The intense throwing up caused a small tear in my esophagus, however my drinking caused my blood to be thin which caused a few drops of blood to turn into a couple tea spoons...
So...... Will I be eating at the restaurant that poisoned me again? No... Yet I've beened poisoned so many times by alcohol yet return.. That's what I will continue to think about for a while..
I was celebrating my fourth promotion in 2 years.. I've doubled my pay.. Life has been good outside of the few slip ups..
Sounds to me like you are already rationalizing with your addiction and downplaying the role of your drinking to me. Maybe you should think about that for a while too.[/QUOTE
Not at all.. There's no reason for me to fluff what I am saying. I'm not at all trying to rationalize addiction. I think you missed what my take away from this experience has been.
Perhaps I did....words can be interpreted differently. It sounded like you were downplaying the role of alcohol in the recent health scare.
The facts downplayed the role of alcohol. The only involvement was the blood thinning effects of alcohol. That was not why I got sick, threw up or got a tear in my esophagus. That's all I'm saying respectfully. But certainly, I'm not drinking. It's been a good couple of days.
I got it -- the irony that we wouldn't go back to a restaurant where we got food poisoning but continue to drink?
From time to time, we see messages from people who will do anything to "heal," even things with absolutely no foundation in legitimate science. Inquiries from posters who want to know about liver cleanses but haven't stopped drinking comes to mind. (Note: there is no such thing as a medication or supplement to "cleanse" the liver. The best thing we can do for it, and the rest of our organs, is not drink.)
Sounds like you've had a wake-up call, ImReady. Take it for the message it was and let this be the start of your sobriety. Congrats on already have some sober time adding up. Plenty of support for you here on this journey!
