I can't believe i've been out for this long.

shaking my head......1 relapse can lead to a monumental mistake. I've been off pills since 2009, but my alcoholism has kept me in a fog for a few years. I've gotta get away from this. I don't think i'm gonna last much longer.

Welcome back BullDog. Did you have a plan that worked before? Can we help you make a new one? My last round of drinking really took its toll as well, hope you can make this be your last one too.

tapering has worked, but i almost always cave when i get back to 5-6 shots a night. "countless vein attempts to control their drinking"....from "how it works" . ugh...i just gotta man up and finish the taper. medical detox is a no no. i was heavily addicted to the withdrawal meds. i'm not going there again. I'm so frustrated.

Best of luck...have you seen your doctor? An overall checkup never hurts as well as a medical opinion.

Hi.
What still helps millions to this day is attendance of meetingS. Tapering and procrastination hardly work and add to the frustration.

BE WELL

Welcome back. Tapering is essentially asking a person who can't control their drinking.....to control their drinking. You've failed trying this method in the past but you are hell bent on continuing. Have you ever been to detox? Most of the medication given to you during this time is strictly administered and also unavailable outside of the center. C'mon man, you can do this - you just gotta make some changes! We're here to support you no matter what, but keep an open mind. All the best.

Glad you are trying to get and stay sober, Bulldog.

I concur that I would try to find a plan to follow in your efforts to recover.

Bulldog from Manassas ... This might not be your type of music, but hear the words. The album, appropriately titled Manassas, is quite lovely.

As long as the external links are not for advertising or to support an ulterior motive they are fine. See #1 under violations here for the full details.

This is off-topic, Bulldog, but I have extremely fond memories of Manassas--that's where I relocated for my first real job! I lived there for three years and loved it.

I wish you the very best.

Hi Bulldog I remember you from awhile back before I took a long break from SR. I am glad you have found your way back and are able to start again.
I also believe a medically supervised detox would be best and safest.
