Yeah if that's the only issue, you might be right. I don't know. I'll have to wait and see what the doctor says.

I won't go into lab reference ranges and the bdsm guidelines. Your journey begins now. When you enter the world of male hormones.

Read up on it mate. Many guys have gone years without treatment and lost everything.

Well, I respect everyone's input but I will ultimately put my trust in the doctor when I see him on Wednesday.

That trust has to be strong. Like father & son.

While I don't think it's all in my head, I do think psychology may have very well played a role. It certainly doesn't help. We have tried again since Monday and I was able to achieve an erection a number of times but not able to maintain it the entire time.

Doctors don't prescribe Testosterone like anti-depressants. Your issue may not even be hormonal.

You have desire still. You have a libido.

I do but it's not the same. Like I said, I'll update everyone after my dr.'s appointment on Wednesday. I'll take low testosterone over cirrhosis of the liver any day. Even if it is low testosterone, that doesn't mean I will even want testosterone therapy. It's something I will have to discuss with the doctor.

I had low testosterone and weak erections until I stopped drinking. After a couple months my testosterone levels were back to normal and my erections were firm again. Alcohol is terrible for your entire body and the longer you abuse it the more problems you will encounter. As a red blooded male in his thirties I can assure you giving up booze is worth the effort as the rewards outweigh the negatives. You're probably drinking too much if you have problems getting it up. Try going cold turkey for a while if you can, you will notice a difference pretty quick.

Well, I just got back from the doctor. The examinations he did give me turned out normal but I have not yet gotten any blood work done. He wants to wait until I can come in during the early morning hours to test my testosterone levels. He said that he did not want prescribe me anything until I stopped drinking. I told him that I had been sober for a week and a half but he wants me to see a therapist or go to AA and be sober for at least a month before he would prescribe me anything. So that is where I am at now.

I wouldn't say that he told me "everything was fine". That particular examination apparently showed no abnormalities, but I never suspected it would. I will get blood work done this weekend and we will go from there. I agree with him that I must first quit drinking before anything else and I understand the approach he is taking on this. I already have quit drinking but I really need to stay sober for a decent period of time before any kind of medication therapy should proceed.

Got my blood work done today. The doctor did tell me it could be 10 days before I get the results back. Have to be patient. I'm still not 100% sure whether or not to make that therapist appointment but right now I am leaning towards doing so.
