As the holiday season approaches, I have been thinking about how I am going to be faced with situations where alcohol is around me. I have 11 months sober, last relapse coming during Christmas last year. I caught myself entertaining the idea of having a couple beers at the office party or on Christmas Eve.

Then I needed to refresh my memory that I am an alcoholic. I did this online quiz. I scored 20 out of 20.

back when i drank i would not have answered many of those questions honestly becuase i also was not being honest with myself at the time either. Despite that I probably still would have failed the test and been deemed an alcoholic at that time I probably would have thought that that was some kind of an accomplishment ::facepalm::

Hey Wastinglife- Thanks for the self-test link. I already knew that I have problems, even before the test, but it's a nice reference to use or pass along. Also, congrats on the 11 months.

This can be one of the more tempting times of the year due to all of the festivities indeed, but hopefully we can know that having 'only a couple of beers' is just not an option for people like us, due to the way we're wired. I have to remind myself of that often.

I get all the reminders I need by reading the relapse threads on newcomers. It shows me where I don't want to go again.

Ha. Interesting test. I took it just now and scored an 85%. I was just thinking if I had taken it 5yrs ago i would've scored around a 50% and 7yrs ago it woulda been around 30%. Such a horrible progressive disease.

17 out of 20. Yeah i guess you can say i'm still an Alcoholic.

I'm 50 days sober today...And have been fighting off the thoughts of returning to drinking the past 2 or 3 days.

The timing of this posting of this assessment is perfect for me.

I don't want a return to the madness.

Entering the test, I already knew the answer, but I got a 55%. I am just happy that I didn't hold on to my problem until I was a 100% and therefore, likely dead.
