3 years and 4 months with the support of just this site and all of the people who have helped me here, whether I agree with you or not.
thank you all for making sober life much more interesting than drinking myself sick daily.

Great poll. If anything, it proves it can be done, and that will provide hope for those who are at the beginning of their journey, as well as for those who are looking at the "next level".
2 years 3 months.
2 years 3 months.
if we could help just one
pretty cool poll here
in first place are ones with over 1 year of sobriety
and best of all coming in second place in the poll
the newcomers with less than 30 days
if we could help just one to not have to suffer as we did

Food for thought
What is the Percentage of Alcoholics Who Stay Sober? - Spiritual River
I try to choose my words gingerly when, I mention how many people disappear from here.
Bare this in mind though
Now take all of the people who made it to 90 days sober. About 5% of THOSE people will make it to 2 years sober.
So there is sort of this drop off rate that slides, and it is a pretty scary slope. Make it to 90 days and you are not out of the woods yet. Make it to 2 years and you are STILL not out of the woods yet.
However, if you make it to 4 years sober, then your chances of achieving “permanent sobriety” jump significantly. The statistics show at that point that if you make it to 4 years sober, you will probably stay sober forever. Of course with addiction there are no certainties.

Pretty good chance I will have 24 hrs today which in reality is all I am concerned with. My sober time is an accomplishment but no matter how much sober time I have it is today that I am most proud of

That's an interesting observation Captain
Because twice I fell just short of 3 years
Third time around when I got 4 years
I felt like there would be no return to
Dance with the liquid devil

One week, I am so happy... This time last week I was in a mess, I think it helped me to get so bad ?
No desire whatsoever to drink, it's as if I have seen a way forward.
Thanks for the forum reading things here has been a help.

Thanks for that, good to see it in figures that's a challenge
Permanent recovery statistics are abysmal by anyone's measure. This does not depress me. It instead makes me more determined to succeed. It makes me do whatever I have to do to maintain my sobriety. I plan on being one of the winners!

Hi. I don’t know how to interpret any polls regarding success or failure. I feel that if there is a gap in certain areas of numbers responding that does not mean they are drinking or not drinking. To me they just didn’t respond to the poll for any of various reasons.
How are the 20-45 million people in the US with alcohol/drug problems accounted for? Certainly the majority have no support system and might be in denial about a problem.
The facts show that too many with a drinking problem don’t/can’t get much sober time together for many reasons.
For that reason I’m grateful each day I add one more to my sobriety as it is a gift.
BE WELL
