What's your IQ?
In all fairness to dsober, I have read articles that claim that there is a correlation between high IQs and addiction.
I, too, do not subscribe to the idea that a high IQ means much. I was a "gifted" student in the 70s and two of my four children are supposedly intellectually "gifted", but as their mother, I can tell you that all four of them are perfect all the way around.
We mothers are always worrying about our children. Especially, we mothers who have alcohol problems, and who have children who have alcoholic grandparents of both sides of the family. I have to admit that my mommy's intuition has always told me that my one son will have to be especially careful concerning addiction. He seems to analyze everything and has more anxiety than the other three combined. Interestingly, he has an IQ over 140 (which was tested by psychologists in two different states in order to qualify him for the "gifted" program)

I know what it used to be when I was young. Don't know what it is now. Not going to take any tests to find out either cause I don't care that much. As long as I have the sense to get thru each day without hurting myself or someone else, I'm doing alright.

I'm with dSober and Nigey. I'm known for my looks. Hahahahaha
Hey we were discussing that nine nine thing in March 2013 class thread. I tested the 666 too. Haha.
I have more trouble with focusing....hey, look at that bright shiny thing...than I do with IQ points.
I haven't taken one of those test for years anyway. I put more stock in horoscopes. Any Sagitarians out there?

I was tested 31 years ago when I was in the 4th grade to get into the "gifted" program and I made it in... I knew at the time that you had to score over 135, but the shrinks told all of the parents not to let their kids know their scores for some reason so I never knew what I scored until years later when my mom told me as an adult. I scored 142, and my younger brother scored 144. Looking back, I'm glad she didn't tell us when we were kids as my brother would have never let me hear the end of it... LOL

I do not think it is taboo, just an odd question.
Last time I took an IQ test though I scored so high the moderator of the test cried and an eagle named "American Champion" flew into the room and shed a tear on a single piece of chalk.
From there, myself and the rest of the participants in the test skipped our way out of the testing room while humming Shakespeare. It was a fantastic day.
Gauging the IQ of an adult is meaningless. It's a test for children to determine their intellectual placement amongst their peers - and is calculated thusly: actual intelligence / average intelligence of people their age * 100 = Intelligence Quotient
After a person disembarks from the education tracks, particularly past college, you cannot determine the "average intelligence" of someone that age. How can you, for example, estimate what someone who is 38 will know on average? No standard path in life means no standard intelligence, and no standard intelligence means you can't determine an intelligence quotient.
