Actually Karate I disagree.

Knowledge is not the answer action is. Some of the smartest people chase this disease to their death. This disease cuts across socio-economic, health, and intelectual lines. It has no prejudice. I believe knowledge is power but with addiction, I have found learning as much as possible can paralyze people and ****** action. Like everythign else balance is appropriate but nothing can trump executing a plan, especially early on.

I respect your opinion so ill agree to disagree .

I cant see where knowledge should be withheld as harmful ?

Knowledge might not help others , so I can only address my own problem .

I have had low blood sugar most of my life ,the fact that alcohol converts to sugar quickly , that explained why a beer always made me feel better quickly .

It would also explain why the sports recovery drinks have the same effect .

I will close with this as well ,yes this disease cuts across all lines , one of the wealthiest men I have ever known died of cirrhosis .

Can treating the effects of these genetic issues help with reducing the strength of your addiction? If so that would be interesting and helpful.

I should say its odd that people thought addiction was "all in your head". Mental health is greatly affected by nutritional/metabolic imbalances.

In my own opinion a definite yes .

I know a drink with sugar helps me when I want a beer .

For some reason the sports recovery drinks with B-vitimans work the best and the quickest .

Ill add this that I noticed in my own experience ,When I was a big drinker . I would drink several beers before I ate dinner, after I ate it was very seldom id drink anymore .

Fascinating article, karate. I was especially intrigued by the discussion of alcoholics who have an underlying allergy to wheat or barley. I have definitely experienced a positive correlation between cravings and grain intake.

I was really interested in the part about auto body workers /painters being drunks because of the chemicals .

Earlier in my life I worked in an autobody shop ,became a certified painter .
I have lots of friends in the industry still .

90% of them are alocholics , and several are pot smokers ,one is a meth head too .

At the shop I worked at we had beer in the fridge , started daily at 5 pm .
Boss would send his wife for beer if we were out .
