occasionally I just like to count days sober
I am at 106 days sober.
I look forward to a time that I have been sober for so long that I don't think about booze at all. I quit pot and cigarette years ago and couldn't tell you the day or year I quit.
I still think about taking a drink every hour of the day, everyday. Counting sober days are a good thing but doing it also keeps my mind on drinking - as does coming to this forum.
Good and bad in everything I suppose.

That is indeed a great point, this site for all it's amazing stories and people does remind you of drinking as that's why we are here obviously, I look at in in a similar way but also it reminds me of the joy and pride people including myself have for having the mental strength most of us did not know we had.
Well done for a fantastic achievement so far and keep it going buddy.
Doug, I feel the same way. I actually have consistent thoughts of, "oh, I'm not drinking, wow, I'm still not drinking!". These thoughts are positive, but I actually wish drinking would be a distant memory that I didn't think about at all...good or bad.
Congratulations on ONE SOBER YEAR GracieLou!
I celebrated my one year last Friday. For some reason I thought you were months ahead of me.
You are still way ahead of me on number of posts. You always give such good advice.
Looking forward to Year Two on SoberRecovery.

my sponsor has something like 24 years sober
and amazing for an older guy
he knows the exact amount of sober days he has each day
my memory sure does not work like that
but -- I'm grateful for what I have
today after checking with my computer sober days program
I have 2,371 days clean and sober
amazing
have not been in any serious trouble for the same amount of days

Here is the email I just sent my wife.
"When I first quit drinking I used to go to a website and enter the day I had my last drink. It calculates the days hours and minutes sober.
I remember first looking at it a few days after I chose sobriety. So few days I had, I wondered if I would ever have 10, 20, 100, 125 and so on, I wondered if I would have a year. It seemed so far out. I dreamed of a day if I would ever enter a sobriety date and see more than a 100 days, more than a year, more than two years. Sometimes I would check it a couple times a day.
I don’t know why, I just did.
I haven’t checked that calculator in a while. I just checked it. I have 753 days 15 hours and 26 minutes sober.
I love you.
Because of you, I have made the impossible possible."
