Having Fun Without Alcohol - DC Area
One of the biggest challenges I had when I got sober was how to have fun without alcohol. At first I stayed away from anywhere that had alcohol. But after a while I could go out to restaurants, etc as long as I was with other sober people.
I'm 2 years sober now and just took over a meetup.com group in the DC area for folks want to go out and do sober things.
If anyone else is interested, here's a link to the group.

Also, would love to hear ideas others have about how to have sober fun. :-)

There's only a few here. Try searching "sober" or "alcohol free". Finding things to do when I first got sober was very, very rough for me, so I see this as a fun service position. :-)

Yes...my D.C. home group also did all sorts of interesting things outside of meetings..
This was important to create a bond of new sober friends....rather than hanging out with drinkers...
Some of us were into physical activities...and some like me.....dining out...plays ..movies.... and the Smithsonian worked great
All this was happening long before the www or social groups were started.....it's the fellowshipping part of AA for many of us.
thanks for sharing the link....well done on your recovery years..
