I chose #1. I started drinking in my early teens. So really, I never knew the 'real' me.

Lot of pondering going on for me on a Sunday morning.

I voted for 'whole new person' but thinking about it, it's more like I'm the same person, but my perception of the world and other people has altered, and is continuing to alter. I'm no longer controlled and motivated by my anxieties and resentments, or looking for ways to escape reality. I am more accepting - and this flexibility makes me stronger, whereas before I tried to fight everything with my self-will and that just made me brittle, and turned everything into a needless battle. All that energy that I put into private battles, going into every situation with a warrior head on. Tsk. Such silliness.

I have already thought of what I'm going through as rediscovering myself. I have to say though I've always been a troubled and uncertain person and I have a long journey ahead beyond just getting sober. So yeah, 2 then 1.
